Storyline

Using knowledge of body systems, the crew must save people from a toxin that is causing their cells, tissues, organs, and systems to slowly self-destruct.

The crew will look at the symptoms of five patients on Tristell to determine which two body systems are most being affected by Moodoo's toxin. After making the antidote and being interrupted my Moodoo's drones, they will analyze several graphs looking at how the body is affected over time to decide whether to continue with the original antidote.

3-Dimensional Science

Phenomenon

Body systems are made out of cells, tissue, organs, and organ systems that all work together to perform specific functions.

Science and Engineering Practices

Analyzing and Interpreting Data

The crew analyzes body scans and graphs to identify which body systems are most affected by the toxin and determine the appropriate antidote.

Developing and Using Models

Models of human body systems are employed to understand the impact of the toxin and the spreading effects.

Constructing Explanations and Designing Solutions

The crew constructs explanations for the observed effects of the toxin on body systems and devises an antidote to counteract it.

Crosscutting Concepts

Systems and System Models

The interconnections between different body systems are emphasized as the crew analyzes the impact of the toxin on circulatory, nervous, and other systems.

Disciplinary Core Ideas

LS4.D: Biodiversity and Humans

The script explores the interactions and interdependencies of various body systems, emphasizing the circulatory and nervous systems.
